A Conspiracy of Care – A Call to Healing

Transcribed Video Introduction:

A Conspiracy of Care – A Call to Healing presented by COSEBOC, the Coalition of Schools Educating Boys of Color. Willis Bright, who coined the phrase Conspiracy of Care, believed we must be united in a plan of safe keeping for the future of our youth. Bright believed that this Conspiracy of Care should be deliberate in intention as well as effort to reduce academic and life failures. These two oppositional words join together to make a dynamic, intentional and impactful statement that speaks to the earnestness around COSEBOC’s mission.

It is our hope that the information presented in this film will challenge you to reevaluate your own practices and views as an educator, leader of educators, school community, parent and scholar. We believe that the strategies and insights shared throughout this video can support schools and districts who are eager to generate new approaches and targeted activities that positively enhance the experience of black and brown boys as well as those who educate them.

Simply Put

In environments where success is measured you must first acknowledge the individual that is standing in front of you and then, with intention, support their well being to improve achievement in learning. For schools this requires a comprehensive mental health provision that is responsive to all youth, but specifically young men of color.
